Did You Know? Dr. Sameet Sheth Is a Member of the American College of Prosthodontists and an Associate Fellow of the GNYAP

Credentials, distinctions, and memberships can be critical indicators of a prosthodontist’s experience level, as well as their commitment to continuing education and the advancement of dental care. Dr. Sameet Sheth, our prosthodontist and cosmetic dentist in Bayside, is a member of the American College of Prosthodontists and an Associate Fellow of the Greater New York Academy of Prosthodontics, and we’d like to take a moment to let you know why that is so important for patients.

What Is the American College of Prosthodontists?

The American College of Prosthodontists* is a prestigious organization dedicated to advancing the field of prosthodontics through research, education, collaboration, and raising public awareness. To become a member of the ACP, prosthodontists must have completed rigorous education requirements via programs accredited by the Commision on Dental Accreditation. The ACP is strongly focused on continuing education and holds an annual session each year that brings together prosthodontics professionals from across the nation to learn about new technologies and techniques, share information, obtain additional training in a variety of procedures, and more. At a recent ACP meeting in Austin, a number of sessions were held on full-arch dental implant treatment and how prosthodontists can continue improving on those procedures to help patients achieve the best possible results.

Is It Important to Look for a Prosthodontist Who Is a Member of the ACP?

We believe it is very important to find a prosthodontist who is a member of the American College of Prosthodontists. The distinction is a strong indication that the prosthodontist has the necessary skills, experience, and dedication to furthering his knowledge in the field of restorative dentistry and prosthodontics to maximize the potential for outcomes that positively renew dental function and aesthetics long into the future.

What Is an Associate Fellow of the Greater New York Academy of Prosthodontics?

The Greater New York Academy of Prosthodontics* (GNYAP) employs a mission of encouraging the highest standards of ethics and professional involvement while advancing virtually all aspects of prosthodontics for the benefit of patients. Founded in 1954, GNYAP is dedicated to providing leadership and support for prosthodontists, as well as to stimulating education and fostering relationships among other fields of dental care. Dr. Sheth is proud and honored to have been named an Associate Fellow of this organization, which also holds annual meetings and symposia to promote collaboration among other prosthodontic professionals and provide opportunities for continuing education.

Dr. Sheth firmly believes that the consistent pursuit of additional education and the mission of organizations such as the ACP and the GNYAP are vital for the ability to provide patients with outcomes that go well beyond expectations. Our wonderful new colleague, Dr. Arpita S. Patel, is also a member of these respected organizations, which is a sign of the exceptional skills and experience of our leaders here at Restorative & Implant Dentistry of Bayside.
