Dr. Melani Kapetanakos is a specialist in the field of Prosthodontics. Prosthodontists are specialized in restorative treatment procedures such as dentures, bridges, crowns, porcelain veneers, inlays and onlays, post and cores, implants and cosmetic dentistry. Dr. Kapetanakos received her Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree from New York University in 2003. After completing a one year General Practice Residency at Staten Island University Hospital, Dr. Kapetanakos was accepted into one of the most prestigious post-graduate programs for advanced education in prosthodontics. As a resident, Dr. Kapetanakos was awarded the Panadent award in 2006 and the Adisman Boot Award in 2007 for her clinical excellence. She completed her specialty training in 2007 at which time she expanded on her Implant training as an Implant Fellow at New York University under the training of the world renowned Dr. Dennis Tarnow. Dr. Kapetanakos has also expanded on her expertise in the field of Aesthetic Dentistry and Veneers at the Rosenthal Institute for Aesthetic dentistry. She is also currently certified to administer Botox, Restylane, Perlane, and Juvederm. Dr. Kapetanakos Has participated in and led dental outreach teams to Guatemala and Jamaica to help serve those who don't have access to dental care. Currently, Dr. Kapetanakos is an Attending at Staten Island University Hospital, maintains her practice at the New York Smile Institute in New York, NY as well as at Bayside Smile Design.
